Our History
George’s Furs, a premier Lehigh Valley Furrier, opened in 1955, in Bethlehem Pennsylvania, by my grandfather George Dimitriadis, although his expertise of furs began well before that.
First Generation
It began when George came to the United States from Greece in 1932. He worked in New York City as a sweep boy in a fur factory, and it was there that he began to learn his craft. While living in NYC, he met my grandmother Mary, who was a seamstress. They got married in their early 20’s, and left New York for Pennsylvania, where they opened George’s Furs in Bethlehem PA. They then moved locations once before finally settling on MacArthur Road as the permanent home of for the business.
Second Generation
Since then their son John, my father, has taken over the family business. John started in the fur industry at a young age, helping his father. By the time he was 20, John opened up Vogue Furs in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. In 1969 he married my mother Georgia, and both generations continued the running the two businesses. When my grandfather became ill and passed away, Mary, John, and Georgia decided to keep the family business running, and settled on Allentown as the best place to run the fur shop.
Third Generation
The third generation was added to the George’s Furs legacy, that would be me, George Dimitriadis — named after my grandfather. Growing up with the family business, I of course have been around furs all my life. That’s what got me to take up the family tradition of working with my family, and I have been for the past 5 years.

George’s Furs has been around for over 60 years, and we are the only remaining local Lehigh Valley furrier. How do we do it? By being honest with our customers. We provide real fur coats and fur wear. We don’t offer misleading sales like “Moving Sales,” “Retirement Sales,” or “Under New Management Sales.” Our furs are of the highest quality, and are marked comparably all year long. We also ensure complete fur repair, as well as advice in upkeep and storage. We are the experts in the fur industry.
